My kids are growing up entirely too fast. Every morning, I wake up Sennah and carry her to the bathroom for her to get ready for school. I could barely lift her up off the bed she’s gotten so big… Soon, she won’t want to be carried and will be more into her friends than me or my wife…

But my love for my children won’t change. As any parent would, I would give my beating heart to them if that’s what they needed.

The Father loved the Son infinitely more than that. And the Son loved the Father like no son has loved his father. Do you know that Jesus died on the cross really for His Father more so than for us?

“but the world must learn that I love the Father and that I do exactly what my Father has commanded me.” (John 14:33)

We talk much about Jesus’ love for us and that’s absolutely correct. He DOES indeed love us. But His love for the Father and desire to please Him was even greater. It was to please the Father that Jesus went to the cross.

Our salvation is simply a result of love between the Father and the Son. The Father desired to save us from sin and He knew that the only way would be for His Son to sacrifice Himself. And the Son willingly agreed and obeyed His Father to please Him.

Don’t overestimate yourself and think that God lives for you. He doesn’t. The Father lives for His Son and the Son for the Father. But don’t underestimate yourself either. The eternal Father and the Son worked together to saved you!

“There are no ordinary people. You have never talked to a mere mortal. Nations, cultures, arts, civilizations – these are mortal, and their life is to ours as the life of a gnat. But it is immortals whom we joke with, work with, marry, snub and exploit – immortal horrors or everlasting splendors. C. S. Lewis
