Good morning everyone,
1 Corinthians 3:10-11-According to the grace of God given to me, like a skilled master builder I laid a foundation, and someone else is building upon it. Let each one take care how he builds upon it. For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ.
It really takes a grateful and secure person to give credit and honor to people who have helped them achieve their goals. Whether it’s grown kids who look back and see the sacrifices made for them, or a spouse who has sacrificed their personal desires for the common good of the relationship for Christ sake. The commonality both analogies share is a foundation upon a selfless sacrifice, to benefit others.
Whether we want to admit it or not, we would not have the testimony we have unless someone laid a sacrificial foundation to usher us along. It may not have been perfect, but somewhere you can locate a parent, relative, teacher, coach, etc. that gave you a vision of what benefiting from a loving and willing sacrifice looks like.
Yet all of those sacrifices are just a glimspe of the foundation Christ laid for us in the gospel. If we get a revelation as to what the "cross" means in our personal lives, we would never stay content in pride and self-righteousness that seeks to take credit. We would actually be able to thank other people as well, because we have practiced giving credit and honor to God. Challenge yourself and ask whether you have a hard time thanking people for helping you? It may signify our tendency to deny giving credit, even to Christ, because we want it ourselves.
In His Love, Ld
