What is it about our culture that is so afraid of getting old? We are obsessed with looking young and feeling young – cosmetic products, diets, plastic surgeries, photoshops, etc. We like nothing more than a stranger mistaking us for someone much younger…

To the world, this is only natural. Getting old is equated with nearing death and who wants to die? Since material world is all there is, death ends everything. Therefore, they need to do everything they can to either deny or delay death as long as they can.

However, this ought NOT be true of Christians. Death means meeting Christ face to face. Getting old means we are getting closer to becoming our true self as God had intended!

Listen: “The glory of young men is their strength, gray hair the splendor of the old.” Proverbs 20:29

Ladies, you start seeing gray hair and you’re appalled? Don’t be. It is your splendor. God has privileged with long enough life to see gray hair on your head. Cherish it as a gift from the Lord. You don’t have too long to meet Christ face to face – your greatest treasure and pleasure source.

Men, don’t be saddened by thinning hair or sagging muscles. Don’t fret about your glory days past. God has permitted you live to be such age. But He is not through with you yet. You have work to do. Work to bring others see Christ for who He is, so that they may also cherish getting old and be near to see Christ.

See you guys at church.
