When you have tasted the world’s best and you are still hungry, then what?

Having lived in this world for over 40 years and sufficiently having traveled to various parts, I came to the conclusion, like many before me, “there is nothing new under the sun.”

“All new news is old news happening to new people,” to quote Ravi Z. Perhaps I see this a little more clearly because I have been a youth pastor for 17 years prior to As 1. Every new crop of youths think that what they are experiencing is brand new and they are the only ones to experience it. Whether it’s their first love, first car, prom, graduation, etc. And when I tell them their experience is nothing new, they would say, “But you don’t understand, Pastor Hong. NO ONE ever felt like I have…”

Jesus fed 5000 men bread. And right after, he walked on water and saved Peter when he also wanted to walk on water after Jesus and started sinking. In other words, only Jesus satisfies and sustains. He is the bread of life that satisfies and the Savior that saves us from sinking. He alone satisfies and sustains. Not traveling. Not a new relationship. Not a different place to live. Not more money.

If He doesn’t satisfy, it’s because we don’t have Him fully. Just a licking won’t do. We need to EAT Him. Devour Him. Chew on Him. And digest Him. Our physical hunger and physical food satisfying it is simply an indicator that we need spiritual food and spiritual satisfaction.

“But when he saw the wind, he was afraid and, beginning to sink, cried out, “Lord, save me!” Matt 14:30

Fix your mind on Jesus. When you lose peace, do not look at your circumstances. Look to Jesus. He will satisfy and sustain.
