Good morning everyone,
Jeremiah 22:21-I spoke to you in your prosperity, but you said, ‘I will not listen.’ This has been your way from your youth, that you have not obeyed my voice.
I used to think when growing up with my mom and brother that if we would just be more prosperous financially, my mom wouldn’t be stressed out, then my brother and her would stop fighting all the time over not having any money, and so on and so forth.
I didn’t know anything about Christ or God supplying needs so I just concluded money and prosperity answer life’s problems. The trouble with thinking like that, is that when you come to Christ and still believe that prospering in something is our major problem, we set ourselves up for a struggle to have a real unconditional loving relationship with Christ and people.
Prosperity is the hardest test I believe in maintaining a vibrant relationship with God. Because when all is well who knows whether we are serving God for what He gave us or not? Do we see a "need" to diligently obey God when life is in a good season? If you have kids, do you always have to attach a reward to being obedient? If so, you might be revealing how you were conditioned in your youth to obey God so you can get something good from Him, and passing it on to your kids too.
True unconditional love will always strive to honor and respect the person in maintaining love in a relationship. Regardless if things are "prospering" or not, we must fight our selfishness to seek only the good we can prosper from in God, and obey Him at all times because we love Him for who He is.
In His Love, Ld
