Good morning everyone,
Matthew 10:13-And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it, but if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.
Jesus sent out His disciples into villages to announce the Kingdom. Yet Jesus knew everyone wouldn’t receive their message peacefully. That is why Jesus told them to keep their peace, because if they don’t accept the peace you bring then they are not worthy of it.
What does that mean for us? Beyond witnessing, the first question we have to ask is whether we ourselves are at peace with God? You can’t keep or give away what you don’t own! This is why many times we try and find peace in someone or something else. But the disciples had peace because they were obedient in the purpose/relationship Jesus had with them, so they owned it.
Owning peace comes from knowing you didn’t get it from people. But also realizing you have no control over it if you don’t own it! Owning true peace comes when you and I recognize that God is the only One who can give it, and WE choose to lose it to whoever or whatever we choose to lose it to! But the question we must ask ourselves is whether any of these things are worthy of having our peace? If these things are, whose peace are we after, God’s or the worlds?
In His Love, Ld
