If you didn’t wake up in hell this morning, be happy!

If you are reading this devotional, then a few things are true: 1. You are not in hell. 2. You have a device on which to read this which makes you a middle class American. 3. You have interest in spiritual things. All of which we didn’t deserve…

It’s so easy to be happy.
It’s so easy to get out of our foul, complaining mood.
It’s so easy not to be anxious.

How? Just consider what we deserved. We deserved death and hell. We deserve to be in hell right now!!! Don’t agree? Consider the cross. Our sins were so bad and serious that the only way to avert our going to hell was for the Son of the God of the universe to die a common criminal’s death! We sooooo deserved to go to hell.

But we are not. Glory to God! And for those of us who are born-again, there is no fear of condemnation! So, why do we get so uptight about the future? Why do we worry? Why do we complain about anything? Why so glum? (The answer of course is that we forget this…)

“Naked I came from my mother’s womb, and naked I will depart. The Lord gave and the Lord has taken away; may the name of the Lord be praised!” John 1:21

Don’t worry. Be happy. You are not in hell nor are you going there!
