Do you sometimes daydream about how good your life was compare to how it is now?

Perhaps you are married and think about your bachelor or bachelorette days fondly.
Perhaps you have moved into a new town and think about how good you had in your home town.
Perhaps you had a very happy childhood under your parents and think about wanting to go back.
Perhaps you are a working professional and think about your freer school days.
Perhaps you are a church planter (all members at As One) and think about your previous church.

Resist the temptation! If you are a believer, God has placed you in your current circumstance and for you to resist it or resent it would be to distrust God.

Num. 1:4, “The rabble with them began to crave other food, and again the Israelites started wailing and said, “If only we had meat to eat! We remember the fish we ate in Egypt at no cost – also the cucumbers, melons, leeks, onions and garlic. But now we have lost our appetite; we never see anything but this manna!”

What’s amazing is that they were smack-dab-in-the-middle of God’s will, and all they could do was the reminisce about the good ol’ slave days – which weren’t that great really but our past always seems better when we are miserable in the present!

Have you noticed something here? They were in God’s will. They were being delivered from the Egyptians after some of the most spectacular miracles. And yet…

They were going through a dry period – literally because they were in the desert.
They lacked basic necessities such as food and water.
Their standard of living did not improve.
They didn’t arrive at the promised land immediately – it took 40 years!

Do you see ah obvious application?

You could be smack dab in the middle of God’s will and yet still go through a dry period, not have all your needs met, not have your living conditions improve, etc.

What is God trying to do? He’s not so much preparing the kingdom for you. He’s preparing you for the kingdom.
