Have you been so enamored by someone you wanted to put that person inside of you? Like your son or daughter, your spouse, or your bf or gf, you love so much that you squeeze that person as close to you as possible? You want to hug them so hard as to become one with them? Or someone is so cute you want to eat them? Why is it that when we love someone we want that person to become literally a part of us?

By the way, Isn’t it interesting that I grew up in a completely different culture and people group (S. Korea) and yet you identify with the same emotion? It’s because we’re created in the image of God. God gave us this desire to become one with those we love. Why? Because He is like that. He desires to become one with those He loves.

Heb. 3:6, “But Christ is faithful as a son over God’s house. and we are his house, if we hold on to our courage and the hope of which we boast.”

This gives a completely new perspective on heaven. Heaven is not a place for us to enjoy God and enjoy the absence of what sin brings. Rather, heaven is a state of being where God and we are one! If we are God’s house, He is the one living in it! In other words, heaven is heaven because God lives inside of us!

That is why Jesus said, “On that day you will realize that I am in my Father, and you are in me, and I am in you.” John 14:20.

Therefore, heaven is not so much a great place like Hawaii or Caribbean (so called Paradise), but rather being completely intimate with the One who created us. I don’t think we will care so much what it really looks like. We are so intimate and in love with God that nothing else will matter. (Ever been so in love nothing else mattered – not grades, not family, not food, etc?)

Sexual intimacy is but a dim reflection of what we will have with Jesus. The explosion of love we feel for our children is but a poor copy of what we will have with Jesus. God Himself will be in us and we will be in Him!
