How could God judge the people so that it would be fair regardless of people’s talents, gifts, circumstances, status, etc?
God cannot judge people based on their intelligence, for example. That would be unfair.
God cannot judge people based on their gifts and talents since they were born with them.
God cannot judge people based on their achievements since most of it is circumstantial.
God cannot judge people based on their status since they were born into it.
How can God judge fairly if not based on any of these? (By the way, these are how the world judges each other, is it not?)
What would be something that no matter what era, what status, what intelligence, or what people group you are born into/with that could be the standard for a fair judgment?
I believe one is love.
1 Cor. 13:1-3, “If I speak in the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I am only a resounding gong or a clanging cymbal. If I have the gift of prophecy and can fathom all mysteries and all knowledge, and if I have a faith that can move mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. If I give all I possess to the poor and surrender my body to the flames, but have not love, I gain nothing.”
In other words, anything done without love does not count!
You could speak foreign languages you never learned through the power of God. But without love, you are nothing. (v.1)
You could predict the future and know the answers to all questions of everyone. But without love, you are nothing. (v.2)
You could pray for $1,453,403.22 and get $1,453,403.22 in exact change. But without love, you are nothing. (v.3)
You could go to Africa as a missionary and be killed by cannibals. But without love, you are nothing (v. 3)
Anyone can love!
What does love look like? Patient, kind, does not envy, does not boast…
How do we love?
Go back to Christ. You deserved death and hell. Christ gave you life and heaven. True love comes from there.
