Have you been put off by religious leaders or even pastors who seem to be more concerned about getting their name out than the name of Jesus? Their primary aim is to build an empire for themselves all in the name of Jesus. This obviously is wicked since they are simply using Jesus to get what they really want – a reputation and legacy for themselves – rather than having Jesus be the end goal.

But what about you? Ruminate on this question: Do you take more pleasure in you being made much of or God being made much of?

Are you happier that people are clamoring for you and things are going well for you, or that God is being made much of and people are clamoring for Him? If you would choose the former and you became a pastor, you would be the pastor that you would be put off by…

“But I’m not a pastor. So, it’s OK if I take more pleasure in my success and comfort…” Do I even need to say how wrong this is?

John the Baptist said, “He must become greater; I must become less.” (John 3:30). That is why Jesus said John was the greatest man ever born from a woman’s womb! When you make yourself less, God makes you greater.

Humble yourself. How? Think about how you always think your problem is the greatest problem on earth…. That’s not even close to reality. But because we are soooo into ourselves, our little problem seems like the greatest problem on earth. How wicked are we?
