Making a risky decision to honor God is never wasted.
Often times, we can “hide” behind the crowd and conceal the fact that we are Christians. But there are times when we must stand up for the fact that we are Christians and be willing to pay the price for it. For example, when kids at school ask me what I think about transsexuals, I will have to tell them about my conviction as a Christian. What makes it difficult is that the majority of the society will not share that conviction.
Daniel stood up for his conviction, and God honored him for it. He was given food and drinks, by the king, that were not according to his conviction. So, he took a “risk” and asked him to give him the alternative and test him in this. 10 days later, he was found to be healthier than otherwise. As a young man, he could’ve easily thought “When in Rome, do as the Romans do”, but he didn’t forget that wherever he was, he belonged to God first. And God honored him and used him again and again.
But not everyone gets “honored” like this when we honor God. Some have lost their lives. Some have been tortured. Some have had their family members taken away. Some simply perished in a dungeon somewhere… (Hebrews 11:32-38)
But the fact the matter is that ALL are honored by God who honor Him. If not here and now, then certainly there and then! (Rev. 20:4)
People are fickle. Don’t live to please them. Live to please God. He is not fickle.
