Is your burden becoming too hard for you to bear? Do you feel stressed out beyond your ability? It’s because you are not coming to Jesus.
Something Pastor Eldie preached yesterday really made me think. Jesus said, “… my yoke is easy and my burden light.” (Matt 11:30)
So, what does it mean if my burden is heavy and my yoke difficult? It means one thing: I’m not coming to Jesus. Because Jesus said, “Come to me all you who are heavy burdened… I will give you rest for your soul… for my yoke is easy and my burden light.”
In other words, Jesus promised that my burden will be light if I come to Him. Therefore, if my burden is heavy, that means I’m not coming to Him. It’s as simple as that.
How does Jesus make my burden light? What are my burdens? Burdens regarding ministry, my children’s future, money-matters, health-issues, taking care of aging parents, etc. How does Jesus help? He is absolutely sovereign over all matters (Matthew 10:29). He loves me (John 3:16). And therefore, He will do what is good for me (Romans 8:28).
The ideal life I daydream about isn’t good for me, or God would’ve given it.
Heavy burdened? Come to Jesus. Rest in Him. Accept your lot with gladness. God is molding you.
