With all the racial and ethnic tensions we hear about, we forget that we are all from one man, Adam. No matter what our skin color, where we reside, what language we speak, we share a common ancestor. We truly are brothers and sisters genetically. This is almost surprising when we spend vast majority of time separating people in our minds into different groups depending on their outer appearance. But we have the biblical revelation to know that we all really come from the same womb.

“And he made from one man every nation of mankind to live on all the face of the earth, having determined allotted periods and the boundaries of their dwelling place.” Acts 17:26

So, we all come from one father in Adam. We share the same genetic make up. That means if an apocalypse happened and only one African-American couple survived, let’s say, if they repopulate the earth, their offspring won’t all have dark skin, but rather multiples of skin color just like now.

But why is it that some of us are born in certain area in certain era of this world and history? Is it all just random? No. We are born in specific settings in a specific time to a specific family for a reason. And that is to find God. Continuing on with the above verse…

“… that they should seek God, and perhaps feel their way toward him and find him.” Acts 17:27

So, I was born in 1970 in South Korea to Mr. and Mrs. Hong, so that I might find God. And so were you. No matter your circumstances, your parents, your family makeup, your purpose was to find God and find your satisfaction in God.

You are not an accident. God has a purpose for you. He put you exactly where He wants so that you may find your way to Him. How awesome is that?
