Numbers 22:11-13-‘Behold, a people has come out of Egypt, and it covers the face of the earth. Now come, curse them for me.Perhaps I shall be able to fight against them and drive them out.'” 12 God said to Balaam, “You shall not go with them. You shall not curse the people, for they are blessed.”
Life has situations that rattle us temporarily, but being determined “blessed” by The Almighty God, brings “an anchor” to our ever fluctuating circumstances throughout life. Like the children of Israel, God is not waiting to see if we are faithful in this or that to determine our status before Him. Through Christ, we are blessed, in spite of current failures, bleak circumstances, or even people wanting to curse us, we are blessed!
The children of Israel were feared by King Balak, and from his fear he wanted the prophet Balaam to curse the children of Israel. But God made sure that the prophet understood, that he nor anyone else, can change the status of the children of Israel. They were God’s chosen people so they are blessed…
Maybe the toughest challenge to our faith is to determine in spite of circumstances who we are. Because being “steadfast” is an attribute that must be proven. So if one day is bad and I think I am cursed, and then the next day is good, and I think I am blessed, I am really unstable! But God wants us to mature and have no questions regarding our identity, because we are His through Christ! Christ work cannot be altered, it was for our ultimate good!
As soon as we begin identifying ourselves by Christ and what He did on our behalf, we cease to think lowly of ourselves in the sense of being cursed! Instead we must embrace that the work He has done supersedes my circumstances, even if they are a mess currently! The fact is that I am still blessed, because blessed speaks of the end of something! God promises to work all things for the good, we just have to mature and be steadfast in knowing who we are, we’re blessed! God knows our expected end is working for His purpose and our good, you can’t get anymore blessed than that! (Romans 8:28)
