Hebrews 2:16–For surely it is not angels that he helps, but he helps the offspring of Abraham.
It seems as you get older the propensity to plainly ask for help gets harder and harder. It may be because we have accrued so many disappointments in asking, that we begin to be harden, and begin to think we just need to help ourselves.
The enemy of our souls, Satan, is a mastermind at “shutting doors” on opportunities for us to trust and develop deep relationships from the heart. Our sin of pride also fights the need for help, because pride pretends to not need anything or anyone, and has a hard time being vulnerable or weak enough to ask. Being isolated from the help we need can become the main culprit of so many of our heartaches.
When we understand the gospel, and understand why Jesus came in the flesh, we understand that He did so to relate. To relate to what it is like to suffer in our soul, with our emotions and the temptations of our mind, that provokes us to sin. Whether that is to live in pride, bitterness, lustful thoughts, hatred, etc. All of such sins stem from a soul that is tormented and needs help. Jesus displayed this desperate need for help from God while He walked the earth, and God “helped” Him to perfection!
The one thing that life teaches all of us, is that there are problems that will force us to acknowledge we need help. God knew that people and the things we look to for comfort, cannot give us true rest in the soul. So God the Father sent His Son to help. Relational-centered prayers is where understanding and mercy meet, to give us help. Because we have a God who also suffered from the torment of His soul, Jesus desires to offer us help from His life, if we are humble enough to ask.
In His Love, Ld
