Proverbs 28:26Whoever trusts in his own mind is a fool, but he who walks in wisdom will be delivered.
It’s humbling to look back on some of the mistakes you have made in life and realize how much you trusted in your own mind.  Usually we listen to our own mind because we are convinced that what we are doing is not wrong.  Whether it is our emotional investment or what we learned from those we respect, not trusting our own mind is easier said than done…
Yet the more we experience life and are given the mercy to recover from mistakes, the more we should examine whether it is wise to trust our own mind.  Sadly there are times the mistakes come, and keep coming, because we make excuses to trust ourselves and our own mind, until we are drowning in our mistakes!
I believe this is what God allows in His mercy for us to learn to not trust ourselves, but Him and His wisdom.  Like a child who is determined to do things the way they think is right, before a parent with much greater wisdom.  The parent wisely and safely let’s the child learn their limitations, by allowing them to get it wrong.  So hopefully the next time they humble themselves and trust the parent over themselves…
This is the Lord Jesus pleading for our trust and worship.  The constant anxiety and bad decisions come from a mind that is not rested in God, His Word, and wisdom.  That like a parent who foresees bad decisions, and desires a child’s greater trust in their wisdom, is a God who desires the same thing.  What is foolish on our part is to not trust a God who knows best, and is better to us than we are to ourselves!
In His Love, Ld
