Ever been served leftovers at a restaurant? Well, how would we know if we were? But if you somehow found out that you were served leftovers at a restaurant, what are the chances of you going back to that restaurant?

There’s an interesting passage in the book of Leviticus (Yes, Leviticus!). Lev. 22:22, “Do not offer to the Lord the blind, the injured or the maimed, or anything with warts or festering or running sores. Do not place any of these on the altar as an offering made to the Lord by fire.”

Why not? Why couldn’t they offer animals that are sickly and injured that they cannot sell to others? I mean, they are going to be burned up anyway! So, who cares if they are sickly or not? Get rid of the bad animals through offering which they were required to do anyway and keep the good animals for themselves…

This, God told them not to do. In other words, God told them not to serve Him leftovers! But to give Him their best portion.

How do we apply this today? What would be considered giving God our best? What is most precious to us? Two things: Money and time.

Ever thought, “God would understand that I need this money. He loves me and would want me to use this money on me anyway. When I have more money, then I will start giving…” or “I’m so busy with my work, family, school. I just don’t have time to worship God with other believers.”

In other words, we are saying, “God, you are not my priority. My needs are. Once my needs are met, I will attend to you.” He gets the leftovers…

Have we forgotten we are created for Him?

God did not give us an angel with one wing clipped. He gave us His Son! Why do we give Him leftovers?
