Good morning,
Luke 9:24-For whoever would save his life will lose it, but whoever loses his life for my sake will save it.
Jesus is addressing anyone who will come after Him, so any one who is not, is a person who is trying to save his own life but will eventually lose it.
This is very "black and white", either we live for Jesus and find our life, or refuse Jesus and find out that we are losing our life. But this losing of our life usually takes time, as does finding who you really are in Christ. It is a constancy of lifestyle that proves whether you will prove one or the other. So it isn’t a surprise when a life falls apart completely, we simply prove who we have been trying to live for, and very much conscious of it!
In order to live for Him we must obey Him, and not to obey Him is to be ashamed of His wisdom, because we only highly esteem our own.
There is no way around it, from experience I have learned to live ashamed of my own wisdom so that I live in the high esteem of the Lord’s wisdom. Once God showed me great mercy by allowimg me to completely lose (destroy) my life at 23, I learned to never live confident and trust my own wisdom to guide my life since. Losing my life led me to Christ, and is teaching me to esteem His wisdom over my own, this has been the greatest mercy ever shown to me.
In His Love, Ld
