I’ve read many books and heard many sermons on problems with American churches and Christians – how we are on the decline and what we need to do to reverse it.

I think the problem is rather simple.

We are too rich!

Mark 10:25
5 It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.”

So, is it possible that God is bringing economic downturn on America in order to turn our hearts toward Him? And yet, most of us hang out hopes on politics and new elections…

I woke up with a roof over my head and had food this morning. I am thankful.

Ps. 12, “For surely, O Lord, you bless the righteous; you surround them with your favor as with a shield.”

I’m righteous, not because I lived righteously, but because Jesus put His righteousness on me. Thus, I can confidently claim that I am righteous and ask for his favor on my life.

I am asking for God to surround you with His favor this morning. Given what riches do to our hearts, that favor probably isn’t in the form of wealth, unless we are ready for it. I’m praying that God will show Himself to you in the midst of difficulties and confusing circumstances. THAT would be God’s favor!
