I’m on vacation at Olympics National Park with my family. To escape heat, we are going to Lake Crescent today and then go hiking at Hurricane Ridge tomorrow, God willing. This morning, I ran on the trail near Salish Sea (between U.S. and Canada) and meditated listening to Adrew Murray’s “Abide in Christ.”
In it, he talks about abiding in Christ only one day at a time – the reason why God gave us night and day to remind us to take one day at a time. Have you thought about where your anxieties come from? It’s thinking about the future, isn’t it? We imagine what could go wrong, and we worry that it will be that way. But we have no control over our future. We are only responsible for TODAY. And Anderw Murray alludes to God giving manna to the Israelites enough for just one day. That was meant to teach them to trust God each day and God will worry about the future.
Cast all your cares upon Him. Don’t think about the what ifs of the future. That is for God to work out. Live today to the fullest, abiding in Christ. “Therefore do not be anxious about tomorrow, for tomorrow will be anxious for itself. Sufficient for the day is its own trouble.” (Matthew 6:34)
