Working at Lakes High this year, I got to feel on my skin how liberal and secular we really are. For example, today during our teacher training, we watched a video of a young lady who told us that we shouldn’t be “shoulding” anyone. In other words, we shouldn’t tell anyone what they should or should not do. We should simply let them be themselves. But have you noticed the self-contradiction? We SHOULD not be “shoulding” anyone?? While telling us not to tell anyone what they should be or do, she’s telling us we should be a certain way.
Our world is getting more bizarre each year. And that is because we have lost the sight of God. In the Book of Judges, an incident is described where a concubine escapes from her husband. The husband goes and finds the concubine. However, in traveling through a city, the men of the city want to rape him! However, the man gives them his concubine instead where she is abused by them. And what does the man do? He slices her up and sends the body parts to other tribes of the nation. And they rise up to destroy this tribe that has done this. How bizarre is that??
And how did the whole chapter that contains this story begin?: “In those days Israel had no king.”(Judges 19:1)
Not only did they have no earthly king, they had no King in their hearts. God wasn’t in their lives. And yet, the encouragement we can take from it is that we see God watching and working through some individuals.
We are living in last days in a country that is not only secular but also infects other nations with her secularism. But God is still in charge. Have God in your heart as your King!
