Ephesians 6:10-12–Finally, be strong in the Lord and in the strength of his might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the schemes of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood,…
As a child growing up, I thought the greatest challenge of adulthood was the ability to pay bills, because “bills” seemed to be my biggest problem from getting toys and anything I wanted. So having a job where I could make enough money to pay bills, and buy what I wanted was my simplified reason for living, so I thought…
Of course as I got older I realized, even with the ability to pay bills, I had so many “demons” internally, that having a job and buying what I wanted, did nothing to rid me of the internal struggles of my soul without Christ. Of course still needing the grace to continue being set free from such bondages. (John 8:31-32)
So the need for strength to overcome what is inward/spiritual, has nothing to do with how “strong” we think we are in ourselves. The devil gladly invites us to rely on ourselves in “enduring” trauma after trauma, because he knows the eventual toll of it, will cause us to self-destruct in mind, body, and soul without being strong in the Lord…
The question we must ask is, how much of what we endure is brought to the Lord in word/prayer for strength in His might? Knowing that what is endured physically, must be brought to a “higher plane” spiritually to persevere through it. Otherwise what we thought we could “spiritually ignore”, will prove that we will notbe able to stand against the schemes of the devil.
So if we think about the struggles we all have internally, how much of that are we trying to manipulate through “flesh and blood”? Yet God’s command to such desires is to be strong in the Lord, not so we can run from evil, but stand against it. Abiding in Christ, and bearing fruit as the Spirit is conforming us to Him, proves what will overcome the world (or Satan) is our faith. (1 John 5:4)
