Matthew 17:20He said to them, “Because of your little faith. For truly, I say to you, if you have faith like a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move, and nothing will be impossible for you.”

Sometimes we can come up against things and not sense we have the ability to overcome it’s pressures.  Whether that’s an emotion, task, season of life or circumstance.  Yet Jesus leaves us with a simplistic answer in reference to trials…“But take heart; I have overcome the world.” (John 16:33)
Infused in Jesus’ statement is a for us to have faith, that He has indeed overcome the world, or faith in what He accomplished on the cross.  But we can generally think that we need our faith to match the size of our trial, when in reality we just need a small mustard seed of faith in God, whose is more than enough!  (Luke 17:5)
That seed’s worth of faith is the sincere belief that if He raised Christ from the dead, surely He can empower us by grace to handle whatever it is we are facing.  The question is whether or not we truly believe it for our situation?  So if we are struggling to do so, we must ask Him to help our unbelief in Who He is and what He can do…(Mark 9:24, Romans 8:11)
Unlike the world that uses the word “faith” as something they have in themselves, because of their “great faith” in themselves they accomplished such and such.  But for Christians to believe such a lie would undermine what Christ did and what salvation affords us.  Because faith is a gift from God that we didn’t earn, but have graciously been given for salvation, so no one could boast.(Ephesians 2:8-9)
So as a challenge to whatever you are facing, you only need a mustard seed of faith to believe you can overcome it.  Jesus points to the audacity of a person who had faith to move a mountain, and what he would say in believing it!  Of course Jesus uses hyperbole, but His point is do we have the audacity to believe God to overcome what we’re facing?  That faith starts with a mustard seed, something so small, but enough to believe God to be so much bigger!
Sincerely put your faith in God, no matter how small it is,  God can do what we think is impossible when we live by faith.-In His Love, Ld
