Exodus 2:11-12One day, when Moses had grown up, he went out to his people andlooked on their burdens, and he saw an Egyptian beating a Hebrew, one of his people.  12 He looked this way and that, and seeing no one, he struck down the Egyptian and hid him in the sand.

We see Moses having a burden needing to be submitted to the Lord, before being the “deliverer” God called him to be.  At this point in Moses’ life, he doesn’t know the God of Israel to reverence/respect/fear.  So Moses sees himself and others, as the only people to be accountable to when he looks around before murdering a man…..

The problem many times with having a burden to help people, is that we have more reverence for our anxiousness to be a solution, over prayer and reverence to God. Having passion is great, but it cannot be our “measuring stick” to act or not act upon something.

Jesus always knew when it was His time to fulfill the “burden” God placed upon Him.  Being perfectly One with the Father and Holy Spirit, Jesus never moved prematurely.  Now of course we do sin and move prematurely or too late, because we are not always one with Father like Jesus. But mistakes of doing things without reverence to glorify God, can cost us things that can haunt us until this day…(John 17:22-23)

Obviously Moses ended up being a great man of God, but I am sure it haunted him at times that he killed a man.  Yet in a good way, it reminded him to be humble and desperate to seek the Lord’s will to act or not, because he knew what he was capable of without waiting on Him. (Exodus 33:15, Romans 8:28)
As great as it is to be passionate about a burden, when to execute it may be more important. Striving to submit to the Holy Spirit alleviates many painful regrets, while allowing the Lord to “harness” that burden into His perfect timing and will for us on earth.-In His Love, Ld
