Merry Christmas! Christ has come, and He will come again!
As we were doing our family devotional this week, a question was posed, “why did Jesus come as a baby and not as an adult?” His main purpose in coming was to die for our sins. But if so, He could’ve come as an adult. Adults are just as killable as a baby! Why did He choose to spend 33 years before He was to be killed? I believe it is so that we could identify with Him and love Him and find our solace in Him.
The pandemic has taught us how vital person-to-person contact is. We literally feel the withdrawal of not being around people and feel our souls shriveling up. We are created for and to be with one another.
This is why God coming to us in a body is so significant. He came to become one of us. And not only that, He would experience everything we would experience in this life. Not so that He could know what it’s like – He already knows all things – but so that WE could know that He understands our plights, sorrows, and weaknesses.
“Surely he has borne our griefs and carried our sorrows; yet we esteemed him stricken, smitten by God, and afflict.” Isaiah 53:4Christ has come, and He will come again! Amen!
