A long time ago, when I was a young youth pastor, I remember going to a meeting with our education pastor. We met up with a reporter and another pastor from a neighboring church. Now, this pastor from a largish church didn’t seem to be too thrilled to be at this meeting. And my education pastor explained to me later on that the reason why this pastor didn’t seem to be pleased was because he had expected “senior” pastors to be present. But instead, it was measly education and youth pastors who were there. Although I was young, I knew that that pastor had a secular view of who is important and who is not.
Who in my book are the people who deserve respect? Those who sacrificed much for Christ and suffered for His name! The more they sacrificed and suffered, the greater they are in my eyes.
I don’t give a whip about how successful a ministry/church they have, or how good their oratory skills are, or how many books they have sold. The world can do that and do it better. But those who chose to remain nameless and gave all for Christ, they are the precious ones in the sight of God.
“You are worthy to take the scroll and to open its seals, because You were slaughtered, and You redeemed people for God by your blood…” Revelation 5:9
Why is Jesus worthy? Not because He is almighty God, although that He is. But because He was slaughtered – He sacrificed Himself for the good of others.
What if we measured people by how much of themselves they have given to the Lord?
Become great in God’s sight!
