It is sad to see what state the American schools are in these days. Now that I’m getting a first-hand look at a public school, I have a better idea of where we are as a people and where we are going since these young people are our future. And frankly, it’s not very bright…
Many of the students do not show up for virtual classes. And if they do, they are not required to participate at all. Most of them do not turn in their homework and sometimes they will skip out on tests. But it’s not that majority of them are actively rebellious or defiance, it’s just that they are overwhelmed with bad habits, family circumstances, lack of discipline, and the wrong messages they are receiving from the media.
What is the wrong message? “You are a victim! You have been unfairly treated, and that’s why you are behind. If you never tried again, you are excused!”
For people will be lovers of self, lovers of money, proud, arrogant, abusive, disobedient to their parents, ungrateful, unholy, heartless, unappeasable, slanderous, without self-control, brutal, not loving good, treacherous, reckless, swollen with conceit, lovers of pleasure rather than lovers of God.” 2 Timonthy 3:2-4
Yes, we ought to be sympathetic and gracious. However, that doesn’t mean that we dismiss their laziness and lack of zeal. What we are going through is not anything out of the ordinary compared to what others have gone through in history.
Life is hard. But we must overcome (through Christ)!
