Psalm 78:18They tested God in their heart by demanding the food they craved.

My wife and I spent years trying to coax our youngest to try certain foods, before casting them off and resorting to what she’s familiar with.  As much as we would tell her “just try it before you judge it” she would stubbornly pick out the things she didn’t like and settle with what she did…
The foods we chose to cook weren’t outrageous, she just didn’t trust us enough to try it.  As parents we were trying to “expand her palate” my wife would say, beyond noodles, mac and cheese, and chicken nuggets.  Yet she wasn’t “having it” the first 8 years of her life.  Until recently she realized that she may be missing out on what our other two kids have grown to enjoy…
Many times it’s this mentality we have with the Lord, that keeps us from experiencing Him in His fullness.  By the time we are adults we know what we like and don’t like.  Yet the Lord is not occupied with what we prefer over what He desires us to “taste” in Christ, experienced from faith to faith! (Romans 1:16-17, Ephesians 3:19)
Much like my youngest, it can become easy to only trust what we know and have experienced.  Yet what the Bible calls “a stiff neck” eliminates us from walking by faith, to experience a deeper intimacy with the Lord that we should desire, if we have tasted He is good! (Acts 7:51,1 Peter 2:1-3)
I’ve been blessed enough to grow up with a African-American mother who is a great cook, but she also loved other cultures’ foods beside our own.  That mentality helped me easily transition to another great cook in my mother-in law whose Korean.  The point being, we will not grow in faith if we live “stuck in our preferences” and stubborn, instead of tenderhearted to what the Lord wants for us to experience, in trusting Him from faith to faith!  (1 Peter 3:8)
Keep fighting to keep the faith, it’s the difference between a stale fading soul or a hopeful and vibrant one truly experiencing God’s grace-In His Love, Ld
