How are we to feel about defunding the police and having a “CHOP” block set up in our cities? What about bad government leaders who act like a petulant child?
I hope you have gone to the Bible to think through these things rather than simply siding with one side or the other. As Christians, we must let the Bible dictate these hot political topics, even more than our feelings and experiences.
“… understand this, that the law is not laid down for the just but for the lawless and disobedient, for the ungodly and sinners,…” 1 Tim 1:9. Paul says this to make the point that the law is given for our protection. That means those who are enforcing these laws are also ordained by God. Now, there are certainly bad cops who need to be prosecuted. But that doesn’t mean that we throw away the baby with the bath water and get rid of the police altogether. This world will NOT be freer for having no police.
What about leaders who are acting like petulant children? We are still to respect them for their position. Again, they are ordained to their position by God for the good of the public. So, we must pray FOR (not against) and submit to their dictates unless they go directly against God’s law.
“I urge that supplications, prayers, intercessions, and thanksgivings be made for all people, for kings and all who are in high positions, that we may lead a peaceful and quiet life, godly and dignified in every way.” 1 Tim. 2:1

Jesus lived during Herod’s and Caesar Augustus’s time. They were evil men. Yet, He submitted Himself under the law set by these evil men. Should we do less?
