Psalm 119:130The unfolding of your words gives light; it imparts understanding to the simple.

1 Corinthians 2:2For I decided to know nothing among you except Jesus Christ and him crucified.

When we hear people refer to someone as “simple-minded” it usually carries the negative slant of being naive or foolish.  Which can be very destructive according to who and what we are “simple-minded” to.  However being simple-minded or open-minded before the Lord is encouraged, for the sake of not being the one who informs Him, but to be informed by Him to walk by faith.
The example of Israelites wandering in the wilderness for 40 years was not something they had to do.  But it was because they were simple-minded, not in a good way of being “open” to the Lord, but stubborn and stuck in how they perceived life was supposed to be for them.  Mostly informed by where they came from as slaves in Egypt…
As Christians, to be born again denotes “growing in grace”, out of our old nature and bearing fruit into our new nature through Christ.  Yet our progress is determined by whether we are “simple” before the Lord in wanting to be informed and obey, or stubborn like the Israelites remaining unchanged in the same place for longer than we need to be? (1 Corinthians 10:1-6)
The Israelites who died in the wilderness refused to move with God, revealing that they loved being simple minded to their agenda, then simple minded before the Lord, to declare “they know nothing” to obey what He knows (faith).  Their refusal to progress with God into the promised land, revealed they had no fear of God so they never could change! (Psalm 55:19)
As this world continues to destruct in “these last days” of turmoil, are we Christians simple enough before God, to walk in unity as a light unto the world?  The division between Christians in our country is saddening to me.  Instead of being simple enough to desire understanding of Christ, His word, and each other for “our times”.  It appears that we desire to hold onto agenda’s, that fuel no progress in God’s promises for unity and influence in the Kingdom.  Revealing the desire to remain “simple” and stubborn to what we know (unbelief), led by other influences while wandering in place…(Matthew 13:57-58)
Challenge yourself whether you have allowed the influence of anything to keep you from growing in the grace of God?  Could it be we are “simple-minded” to the wrong god, and defining “abundant life” accordingly?  In His Love, Ld
