If you wait until you are convinced that what God told you to do is good for you, you will never do it. You will simply have to take the plunge and do it. Then, you will become convinced it will be good for you.
We want understanding before we obey. But understanding comes only as we obey.
I understand more than the elders because I obey your precepts. Psalm 119:100Notice, he doesn’t say, “I obey your precepts because I have understanding.” Rather, his understanding comes AFTER he obeys God’s precepts.
How do you convince a 3 year old that vegetables are good for her? You don’t. You just make her eat them!
God will at times force us to obey Him by taking away all other options. But more often than not, God waits until we obey Him to give us understanding. If we ask for understanding before obeying Him, we might wait forever. And we won’t have the joy of following Him with the understanding this time.
What is it that God is convicting you to obey Him in?
Don’t wait till you become convinced that it will be good for you. It will be more painful, unnecessarily, if God has to force you to obey it. Take a bold step forward in faith, and God will give you understanding.
