Greetings, you sons and daughters of the Most High, in whom are bestowed every blessing you could desire!
Why such preponderant greeting? To remind you of who you are. You are not just an office worker, a teacher, stay-at-home mom, or a dad, but you are royalty! You will rule the earth one day, and you are in training right now for that near future.
That is how Paul starts out his letter to the Ephesians. They were gentiles sinners who had been adopted into God’s family. And they now share the full inheritance and blessings as the children of the King.
“In love, he predestined us for adoption to himself as sons through Jesus Christ, according to the purpose of his will, to the praise of his glorious grace, with which he has blessed us in the Beloved.” Ephesians 1:5-6
Just reminding ourselves of who we are will have an affect on how we will carry ourselves. I want to do my Father proud, and therefore I will not cut somebody off in traffic, or be rude at the check-out line no matter how slow the person in front of me is, or do a shoddy job at my work just because no one’s watching.
We are in training to take over the world. We will rule nations, cities, and even the animal kingdom. Therefore, we must carry ourselves with dignity and honor.
Be who you are. You are sons and daughters of the Most High.
