One of the reasons why I can believe that Jesus rose from the dead is the way the disciples suddenly changed.
If you read the early chapters of Acts, you see the disciples who are very different from just a few weeks ago. You see people who are not afraid at all of anything! Even when they are standing in front of people who could determine their fate, they spoke boldly and daringly. Their attitude was like, “If you want to kill us, go ahead! I’m not afraid of you!”
“Let it be known to all of you and to all the people of Israel that by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom YOU crucified, whom God raised from the dead…” Acts 4:10
They were so emboldened that they were accusing their own judges. It’s like you are standing in front of a judge, and you are accusing him of wrongdoing!
This is not at all the picture of them just a few weeks ago. They were begging Jesus not to leave them. They were denying Jesus. They all fled when Jesus was captured. And they were hiding from the officials and were laying low.
It makes perfect sense. If you have seen the risen Lord, then you would be bold, too. What would you be afraid of? Death? No problem! Jesus can raise you up just like He has raised Himself up. If you are not afraid of death, what would be afraid of?
Let us live like Jesus can raise the dead. Bold and confident.
