Hello from Minneapolis!

Pastor Eldie and I got here late last night for the pastor’s conference. Yes, it was freezing, and it’s supposed to get even colder tonight (in the negatives!).

As we were driving in our rental car into the twin cities, I faintly remember the skyline from years ago when I used to live here. When my family first immigrated to this country, we landed in Minnesota and lived here for 9 months. I was 14 years old back then, and I still remember how foreign everything was to me as if I was on a different planet. The people, the language, the food, the schools, the weather, the culture, the cars, etc. I attended a small Korean church with my parents back then but even the young korean people there seemed different since they only spoke English!

14 year olds are already struggling with their identities. I can’t tell you how confused I was about who I was. I was uprooted from everything I’ve ever known and was replanted in a foreign land. Who am I? Where do I find my worth? What is my purpose in life?

Ordering coffee and hearing flawless English come out of mouth, I thought of how far God has brought me along. Not because He enabled me to speak English and adjust to this country, but because He found me and gave me a new identity.

– Who am I? I am a child of the King. Before I’m a husband, a father, and a pastor, I’m a child of God.
– Where do I find my worth? In belonging to the God who is infinitely rich. Not in my accomplishment, my degrees, or my abilities.
– What is my purpose in life? To glorify God and to enjoy HIm forever. Not to have a fulfilling life apart from God.

Do you have such memories of God bringing you along to establish you in Him?
Yes? Praise HIm for it. No? Start building memories with Him linking everything to Him.
