God had a choice. It’s either doing nothing and letting us all go to hell, or doing something that would cost Him dearly.
It would have been easier to do nothing. He has given us the law, and we failed to live up to it. Therefore, it is right that we suffer the due consequence. The law wasn’t evil. It was there to protect, guide, and lead us to a better life. But we decided to break it and go our way. God would have been entirely justified if He simply did nothing and let us go to hell (Be cut off from Him).
But He decided to do something. And that something would be excruciatingly painful for Him. It was to send His Son to die in our place and pay for the penalty that was due us. That was the only way if we were to be saved. He didn’t have to do this. It would’ve been far easier if He simply did nothing. But He did.
We call this grace. He paid for our sins when He didn’t have to and it was all our fault.
It’s like when you are stopped at a stop light, a drunk driver hits your car. You not only pay for his car’s damage, but you also pay for his court fees and recovery fees. You certainly didn’t have to! That would be grace!
How do you know you have understood and received this grace? Your heart has changed. You WANT TO be good and do good.
After those days, declares the Lord: I will put my laws into their minds, and write them on their hearts, and I will be their God, and they shall be my people.” Hebrews 8:10
Do you cry out to God, “Lord, let me be like your Son Jesus! Help me be more patient, pure, holy, and loving! I want to change!”
God changes not only what we do but also what we want to do. If He hasn’t, then He is not in you.
Think upon the choice He made regarding you.
