Recently a woman won the lottery worth $1.6 billion. We can only imagine how ecstatic she was. Can you imagine what you would do with $800 million (after taxes)?

But what if she was terminally ill and only had a few months to live?

Money drives our society. I don’t need to prove this. What do most people think is the solution to ALL of their problems? Don’t most of us think, if we are honest, most, if not all of our problems, will go away only if we had more money? But what is money? Money only enables us to put food on the table, clothes on our backs, and roof over our heads. But it does not buy us more time. The lottery winner could get into a car accident and die on her way to claim her prize!

“What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Or what can anyone give in exchange for their soul?” Matthew 16:26

You may right now have a malignant cancer cell growing in your stomach that will kill you in 6 months! What good will all the money in the world be then?

One of the most baffling and foolish thing that humans do is that we live like we will live forever when we know we won’t. If you ask anyone over the age of 10, they will tell you that they are fully aware that they will die one day. But almost no one lives, plans, and prepares for that day, unless they know they are very near it with such things as advanced age or grave illness. Why not plan and prepare for what is inevitable?

“Only one life, ’twill soon be past. Only what’s done for Christ will last.”
