God often prepares me in the morning for the day that lies ahead.

What I meditate on in the morning, so often helps me deal with the events that happen throughout the day. Yesterday, for example, I didn’t have a very good day. I went to the dentist to get an implant I’ve gotten previously checked out, and she told me that it needs to be taken out and replanted. That’s going to cost a lot of money. And then on the way home, I had a flat tire that cost me $100 because it wasn’t repairable. Not a good day.
Then I remembered what I meditated on in the morning – Psalm 143:
Answer me quickly, O Lord!
My spirit fails!
Hide not your face from me,
lest I be like those who go down to the pit.
Let me hear in the morning of your steadfast love,
for in you I trust.
Ps 143:7-8
I cannot control how my day goes. Some days are good and some days not so good. But I CAN control how my morning goes. I can choose to sit down at my favorite spot on the couch, open my Bible with a pen in my hand, and read the chapter dictated by the Bible reading plan I’m on.
And then I let God speak to me about Himself, the world, and me. And He truly prepares me for the day to come. I have counseled numerous persons through the words that I simply meditated upon that morning. So, the words that I meditate upon are often for people that I would come in contact with that day. So, God speaks to me not only to help me but also to help others through me.
Are you in the word in the morning? Don’t want to? That’s the sinful self talking. Kill it. Overcome it. Your natural self will never want to read the Bible.
