Genesis 3:11He said, “Who told you that you were naked? Have you eaten of the tree of which I commanded you not to eat?”
There is a principle that we try and establish in our home with our kids, “that if we are not building each other up, how can we influence the outside world with God’s love?”  As parents this is a priority for us, because what we understand and love them unconditionally for, others “outside” will not be so understanding or loving, so we strive to create a loving environment in our home…
As children growing up, we all can relate to not knowing, that what we looked like, how we talked, or what we wore, was a problem until someone criticized or made fun of us.  After that moment we became ashamed, not because we originally were, but because someone’s critic made us aware of our “flaws”.  So we live insecure of that particular thing, until we realize we can be loved anyway…
This is why after Adam and Eve sinned, God knew their shame didn’t come from “His house” because He is perfect, but from an outside influence.  Satan knew that if he could get Adam and Eve away from God’s covering, by getting them to sin, he could introduce them to shame and insecurity.  Something they didn’t know of, until they allowed someone other than God to influence them…
Which makes us ask, what is influencing us to be insecure and ashamed, instead of being confident and at peace (Ephesians 3:12)?  Like Adam and Eve, if God’s Truth is not a foundation of who we are and how we think about things, surely we are allowing outside influences to overshadow how we see ourselves (Ephesians 4:14).  So instead of seeing ourselves forgiven and cleansed by Christ blood, we hide behind “our own truth” and images we made up to hide shame and insecurities…(Genesis 3:7-8)
As a perfect Father, God wants us defining ourselves by what He has said in “His house” about everything in life, finding true affirmation!  So instead of hiding in our insecurities, God sent His Son for us to be honest and unashamed, because His blood covers it.  So if insecurities/shame are influencing how you see yourself, examine who and what you have been listening to?  Did God really say that, or Satan and the world?
In His Love, Ld
