Do you want to be blessed by God? I know I do. Here’s how: Fear Him.

“Blessed is everyone who fears the Lord, who walks in his ways.” Psalm 128:1

But the million dollar (actually more) question is what it means to “fear” the Lord? I’ve heard a lot of definitions over the years. But here’s one I really like by Tim Keller: “To fear the Lord is to be overwhelmed with wonder before the greatness of God and his love.” So much so that we are controlled by it.

So, when we fear the Lord, we are making decisions based upon that fear. It is as if God is always hanging around at least in the back of our heads as to influence and control what we do. He is overlooking our shoulders to see how and what we do. It rightly affects every area of our lives – our guilty pleasures, our major and minor decisions, our time management, our demeanor with others, our money management, etc.

God is always watching. And that’s a good thing.

I want Him to always watch me and not take His eyes off me. If I don’t want Him to watch me all the time, that means I have something to hide that will ultimate hurt me in the end.

Be blessed. Fear God.
