John 3:8The wind blows where it wishes, and you hear its sound, but you do not know where it comes from or where it goes. So it is with everyone who is born of the Spirit.”

Working in youth ministry around 15 years ago, one youth testified that they were afraid to submit to God, because He might call them to some remote country. I understood what they meant. But they left out a very important component of doing anything for God, which is having the heart to please Him, not just doing a particular thing He calls us to.
I admit, the fear at times that has come into my life when God has called me to do certain things, or just the uncertainty of it all felt crazy!  But He always calmed me down, with our relationship being the reason I would have the heart to do anything for Him.  It is God’s grace, that gives us a “new heart” that desires to please Him (Ephesians 2:8-10). Enabling us to “get over” our fear of the Spirit’s determination “to blow where it wishes”.
As Christians, faith never is more practical, than when we live submitted as the Spirit of God is described.  We don’t know when He will come and speak to us, what He desires us to do, or even where we might go!  But we do confirm being sons/daughters of God, when we are led by the Spirit, to do or say what He reveals to us (Romans 8:14).
Our challenge for security, though we may be led to a place we never thought we would go, is to remember God is with us.  Which is better, than to lead ourselves and not have the presence of God’s peace and pleasure, while comfortable in our rebellion!  Allow your heart to be softened by the relationship, before you scare yourself out of the uncertainty to be led by the Spirit.  Because to remain unmoved by God is dead religion…
