Do you give excuses for God for something that seems too hard even for God? Such as changing your spouse’s temper? Or turning your grown children around from rebellion and love toward God? Or giving you a position that your education does not merit? You are not doing God any favor by thinking, “Oh, it’s alright. I’m sure God has His hands full too and maybe He missed this one…” Living by faith means expecting the impossible and being bold to ask it from Him.

This is what Daniel did when he was about to be killed. The King Nebuchadnezzar had a terrifying dream and he wanted the wisemen of his land to tell him what the dream was (He didn’t tell anyone what it was yet) and then tell him the interpretation. And if they couldn’t, then they would all be killed! And since Daniel was one of the wisemen, he was rounded up with others to be killed. But Daniel pleads for a little more time and he goes to work – on his knees! He asks God to reveal the dream to him. And he does the impossible, and God is glorified.

Daniel could have resigned to the fact that he would die. He could’ve given excuses for his God. “Well, I know God can give interpretations for the dream once He knows the dream, but I don’t really think He can know what the king dreamt until he tells it. So, oh well. This is even beyond God…” He didn’t think like that! Rather, he audaciously trusted God to do the impossible!

I think we are so afraid of presuming upon God that we don’t presume upon Him enough! I think if we make a mistake, we should be presuming upon Him too much rather than not at all.

We have a big God. Expect big things from Him!
