How you caught the glimpse of the eclipse today? A lot of people are making a big deal out of it. Our family also went to PLU this morning  to catch a glimpse of it, and there was a huge crowd gathered to experience it together. And when I turned on the TV, American people along the path of the eclipse are celebrating this event in a big way. There were people whooping, shouting, and even crying when the total eclipse happened.

How beautiful and wonderful this world truly is! And we haven’t even begun to explore it to its full beauty and wonder. We are still confined to this tiny blue ball called the earth and have never been outside of our solar system. And our solar system is just one of many millions of such systems in our galaxy. And our galaxy is just one of many millions of galaxies in the universe…

There are things so wonderful and marvelous that we have never even imagined in this universe and will never see. If you think God has made all of this for us to enjoy, then you are mistaken. God has made them for His own enjoyment. We just get to stand alongside God and be spectators of His wondrous creations.

I’ve heard words like, “awesome,” “marvelous,” “beautiful,” “majestic,” today describing the eclipse. But strangely I haven’t heard too many people giving credit to God. After all, if this is all just by random chance and accident, then what’s so beautiful or majestic about it? But it is God who gave us the capacity to look at something like an eclipse and marvel and be in awe of His power and beauty.

“Praise him, sun and moon, praise him, all you shining stars! Praise him, you highest heavens, and you waters above the heavens! Let them praise the name of the Lord! For he commanded and they were created.” Ps. 148:3-5

That’s what the sun and the moon were doing today. They were praising God today and we just happened to be in the stand watching it.

God is the author. Let us give credit to Him.
