Let’s be honest. How many time have you been upset with God? How often have you been disappointed? Perhaps you are still angry with Him for not doing for you what you’ve asked or expected?
Did you know that your pain might be the very thing God brought on you to do His work in you? And by doing so, He lets us see something about Him that we would otherwise would not see.
“Now Jesus loved Martha and her sister and Lazarus. So, when he heard that Lazarus was ill, he stayed two days longer in the place where he was.” John 11:6

That “So” is so misplaced! It should be “But”, not “So”! What sense does it make for Jesus to delay coming to Lazarus when He heard of his illness? Especially, after stating that He loved him much! What we expect Jesus to do is to go immediately to Lazarus and heal him before he gets worse! But this Jesus doesn’t do that. And it is because He loves him, He doesn’t heal him…!
Think about the implications..
– Could it be that because God loves you, He’s not letting you get married?
– Perhaps because God loves you, He let you fail that exam?
– Maybe because of God’s love for you, He let you fall into that illness?
– Could it be that because He loves you, you got fired?
It was because God loved Lazarus, He let him die!
So that Lazarus and those around would see Jesus who is greater than life and death!
O, how unsearchable are God’s ways! He will let the very opposite of what we think ought to happen in order to open our eyes about Him!
You know the rest of the story. Jesus gets there after Lazarus had been dead for 4 days. Then, He goes to his grave and raises him from the dead. Now, the people’s sorrows turned into joy not because Lazarus is alive, but they are joyful because they have amongst them One who is greater than life and death itself!
Has God disappointed you and hurt you in the past? Perhaps He was leading you to Him? Have you missed it?
