Numbers 11:14-15,17- I am not able to carry all this people alone; the burden is too heavy for me. 15. If you will treat me like this, kill me at once, if I find favor in your sight, that I may not see my wretchedness.”…17And I will come down and talk with you there. And I will take some of the Spirit that is on you and put it on them, and they shall bear the burden of the people with you, so that you may not bear it yourself alone.

Have you ever experienced meeting someone, and there is something about them that causes you to know that you share the same “spirit”?  Many times it can be a business partner, a friend, or spouse, and you sense that you both are on the same “wave length” as it relates to what binds you two together.

Yet there are too many times where we experience friendships, partnerships, or even marriages not sharing the same spirit.  When we no longer share the same spirit, what we were carrying that was supposed to be done together, now feels like we are “shouldering the burden” alone.  Not because the person may not be doing the physical work or task that needs to be done, but they don’t share the same spirit for the work…

This was Moses as he was leading the Israelites in the wilderness.  The people were so unbelieving and so full of complaints about their life, that Moses became so overwhelmed he asked to die, rather than live with burden of people who don’t share his spirit and faith in God!
The burden of carrying people who are not with you, symbolizes the cross of Christ and Him carrying our sins.  His mercy and unconditional love says that He is with us even when we are faithless.  Pray for God to give you the help/grace to walk with people who don’t share your spirit to work together, it is God’s way of teaching us patience, mercy, and unconditional love.  Because I can’t count the times the Lord must be exasperated at my faithlessness to share in His Spirit, yet love and lead me anyway!
In His Love & grace, LD
