Hebrews 5:7-8In the days of his flesh, Jesus offered up prayers and supplications, with loud cries and tears, to him who was able to save him from death, and he was heard because of his reverence. 8 Although he was a son, he learned obediencethrough what he suffered.
If I ask you what makes you want to endure hard times for someone you love, the answer would probably be love.  That your love is stronger than the pain that comes with suffering the hard times with that person.  But before you are willing to suffer for anyone, there must be a level of respect that makes suffering for that person worth it…
That without true reverence for God or people in your life, the ability to stay faithful during hard times of suffering will be very difficult and nearly impossible.  Proving that there is no real fear of losing God or that person if you quit!  True respect or reverence, serves as a foundation to endure whatever it takes in order to keep the relationship intact!
Jesus out of perfect reverence for God the Father “offered up prayers with loud cries and tears” to God, showing just how desperate He was to keep the relationship with the Father in perfect harmony.  It was reverence that enabled Jesus to learn obedience amidst great suffering.  In enduring suffering faithfully, Jesus learned that the Father was faithful in and through hard times, showing the “deep roots” of their relationship…
Ask yourself if hard times have caused you to quit easily on Jesus, or other relationships?  Our decision to quit pursuing the truth and reverencing God in our daily life, is to neglect God’s way of teaching us obedience for a deeper relationship. Suffering and remaining faithful proves that God’s love and grace is deep in our hearts, counting His love worthy to suffer for!
Be encouraged through the temptations to quit, knowing that God is able to keep you faithful for greater love and reverence (Hebrews 2:18).
In His Love, Ld
