Ephesians 2:10-For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.

I remember playing high school football and when we watched film, we would call out people who were a “liability” to their team, and they would be the person we would “pick on”.  We defined someone being a “liability” by being someone who is not helpful to the team, they actually hurt the team by playing!  As cruel as it may sound it is the nature of competition, and sadly has been the world’s way of measuring people’s worth.

But God had something different for those who He called to faith in Him.  He called us to be an “asset”, I would define an asset as someone who is helpful, that the body of Christ is hurt by their absence or lack of performance.

The Bible calls us God’s “workmanship” created for good works.  That by His grace we are helpful, useful, and make a difference for the advancement of the Kingdom.  This includes being an asset to our families, friends, jobs, ministries, etc.  Christ and His grace has made our worth not depend on our natural ability, but by the grace He already instilled in us to do good works!  This makes us humble and thankful to be used as an “asset” to the King!

Sadly many of us as Christians still measure our worth by the things we have done wrong or haven’t done yet.  Seeing ourselves more as liability to our families, friends, jobs, and churches.  This is because we don’t see ourselves through grace and what God prepared before we were ever born!  Embrace the miracle and be amazed that every time you humble yourself to His grace, there is a satisfaction that you are doing what you were made to do!  So approach every task humbly seeking God’s grace to be that vessel of honor that affirms your dignity and worth in Him!

In His Love, Ld
