What would you do if the church you attend becomes illegal due to the U.S. government cracking down on churches committing the “hate” crime? And the hate crime in this case is not accepting practicing gays/lesbians as their pastor.

If your church has to go under-ground, what would you do? No more slick praise team. No more lights and videos. No more children’s church. No more famous pastor to preach the sermons. No more fellowship with just the people in your age group. It will just have to be a few of you sitting in the living room of your house, singing quietly some songs, praying, and opening up the Bible to share with one another the word of God.

Would you risk going to jail to continue to meet in the house church? If you are found out, you may lose your job…

I’m afraid that this day might come to America. They have already taken action against the Christian fellowships in college campuses in the Northeast. Unless they will hire gays/lesbians or even people of other religious convictions, they will no longer be recognized by the school….

How seriously do you take your faith? How seriously do you take meeting with other believers? Many believers in other parts of the world have been doing what I have just described as a possible future scenario in the U.S. Some in China have been jailed 10, 20 years due to their “illegal” activity. They have missed the entirety of their children’s childhood…. And for what? For the right to gather with other believers to worship God! But how casually do we, American Christians, treat our Sunday church gatherings?

I am secretly hoping that God will allow U.S. churches to become illegal. I think that, in the end, will be better for the church. I believe that will wake up the Christians out of their slumber and see it as something worth giving their lives for.

But why not take advantage of the privilege while it is still ours? Don’t wait until it is taken away to realize that it’s a privilege. “This is my commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. [13] Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends. [14] You are my friends if you do what I command you.” John 15:12-14
