Isn’t it interesting that this is the only world we have ever known and it’s always been like this, but we know intuitively something is wrong with it?
If I were born in a dungeon and never saw the outside world, then I would think the whole world is consisted of that dungeon. The only way I would believe that the outside world exists is if I saw a glimpse of it through a hole or if someone who’s been to the outside told me and I believed him.
If this world is all there is and it’s always been like this, why do we think something is very wrong with it? Why do we think the violence we see around us should be eradicated? (We’ve always been violent) Why do we think death and disease are unnatural? (Everyone gets sick and dies) Why do we think it shouldn’t be this way when it always has been? And why is it that no matter how good we have it, we always think it can be better? (A ball player making $20 million a year wants $25 million)
Someone from the outside has told us. There is another world.
But do we believe Him? How credible is He? Does it align with everything else He said? Can we trust Him at His word?
What’s wrong with the world cannot be fixed with simple re-education. (Nazi Germans were some of the most educated in the world)
What’s wrong with the world cannot be fixed with having peace signs on our cars.
What’s wrong with the world cannot be fixed with political maneuvers.
That’s because evil is IN us. The evil IS us. We need to be reborn. Made anew. And only God is big enough to do that.
Christ will come the second time as a Mighty Warrior. He will do violence to violence. He will kill death. It will be awful. But it will be good. He will make every wrong right. And He will turn our hearts into flesh from that of stone. “And I will give you a new heart, and a new spirit I will put within you. And I will remove the heart of stone from your flesh and give you a heart of flesh.” Eze. 36:26
Until He comes, diligently seek after Him and encourage those who are losing hope. There is another world.
