Ever thought of your life as a merchandise? Something that can be sold and bought? Well, think about it like that.

If you can somehow buy it, it will be yours to keep forever. Your life will be yours forever and you will not lose it! In other words, you will have eternal life if only you can buy it. But the problem is the cost. You must pay for it with something equally valuable. But what is as valuable as your life? Therein lies the dilemma. You can buy your life and live forever. But the only thing you can buy it with is your life! But in order to buy your life, you must give your life, and you see that when you give it, you will no longer have it….

All that to say we cannot pay for our own ransom. Thus, it does not belong to us. It belongs to God. Our life has been loaned to us for 70, 80 years, if at that. God will take it back. But there is a way to keep it forever. Someone else wants to buy it and then give it to back to us. And there is only one requirement – we must give it to the one who wants to buy it. That is Jesus Christ. And when we do, He gives it back to us for us to keep forever!

“Truly no man can ransom another,
or give to God the price of his life,
for the ransom for their life is costly
and can never suffice,
that he should live on forever
and never see the pit.”
Ps. 49:7-9

What a deal! My life is only a rental. I have to give it back eventually. But if I give it back to the owner before the rental period is over, He will give it right back to me to keep it forever! How can you refuse a deal like that???

For those who gave it: It’s not your money. It’s not your house. It’s not your car. It’s not your time. It’s not your life!
